BACK TO THE FUTURE Original Cast Recording Reaches Top 5 On Official UK Compilation List
The producers of the award-winning film Back to the future the Musical announced that the original cast recording broke into the top 5 on the official UK compilation chart within the first week of its release. The soundtrack of Alan Silvestri and Glen Ballard sits comfortably alongside hit soundtracks including Encanto and The Greatest Showman.
Due to overwhelming demand, the main producer Colin Ingram together with Robert Zemeckis and Bob Galethe creators of the Back to the Future film trilogy, are thrilled to announce that Back to the future Performances of The Musical at the Adelphi Theater in London’s West End will continue until October 23, 2022. Tickets are on sale now. The Best New Musical, Olivier Award nominee and WhatsOnStage Award winner, had its opening night in London on Monday, September 13, 2021.
The highly anticipated Original Cast Recording released on Sony Music’s Masterworks Broadway label was released today, exactly two years after the musical’s opening night world premiere at the Manchester Opera House, featuring the new music by multiple Grammy Award winners. Alan Silvestri and Glen Ballard alongside classic songs from the movie including The Power of Love and Johnny B. Goode.
Last month, Back to the future The Musical has won four WhatsOnStage Awards, including the coveted Best New Musical. Other awards include Best Performer in a Male Identification Role in a Musical for Hugh ColeBetter lighting for Tim Lutkin and best sound for Gareth Owen. This week, the musical received seven Olivier Award nominations, making it the most nominated new musical this year, including Best New Musical, Best Actor in a Musical for Olly DobsonBest Supporting Actor in a Musical for Hugh Cole and Best Original Score or New Orchestrations for Alan Silvestri and Glen Ballard; Orchestration: Ethan Pop and Bryan Crook.

Marty McFly is a rock ‘n’ roll teenager who is accidentally transported to 1955 in a time-traveling DeLorean invented by his friend, Dr. Emmett Brown. But before he can return to 1985, Marty must make sure his high school parents fall in love in order to save his own existence.
BACK TO THE FUTURE The musical is helmed by a Tony Award-winning director John Rando (Urinetown, On The Town), alongside the design team of Tim Hatley (set and costume design), Tim Lutkin (lighting), Hugh Vanstone (lighting consultant), Gareth Owen (sound) and finn ross (video), with choreography by Chris Baileymusical supervision and arrangements by Nick Flow and Illusions by Chris Fisher. The orchestrations are Ethan Pop and Bryan Crookwith dance arrangements by David Chase. The cast is by David Grindrod Associates.
Back to the Future, the movie was released in 1985, starring Michael J. Fox as Marty McFly and Christopher Lloyd like Dr. Emmett Brown. The film grossed $360.6m (£279m) at the worldwide box office and the total box office of all three films in the Back to the future franchise was $936.6 million (over $1.8 billion in today’s money).
