Cat has gone viral for looking like Queen’s Freddie Mercury
Many people support the idea that dogs and cats often resemble their owners. There’s one cat that has gone viral to look like Queen’s Freddie Mercury, and while it’s obviously not the late leader’s pet, the similarity is undeniable.
Mostaccioli is a California cat with black and white coloring, and her breed is British Shorthair. Most of her face is black as well as her ears, she has large green eyes and a black mustache-like figure on her nose and above her mouth. And, with good reason, Mostaccioli is Italian for “mustaches”.
The look of a mustache is what makes it look like Mercury and, as highlights from his Instagram page point out, Frank Zappa as well.

The kitten shares an Instagram account with her sister, Izanami, who is a Scottish Fold. The account is managed by their owner Natalie, who iHeart says works in a veterinary practice. She found a litter of stray kittens in August 2020 and decided to breed the little mustache Mostaccioli on her own.
Through the Instagram page, which has more than 10,000 followers, Natalie raises funds for the non-profit organization Cats of San Bernardino. Thanks to the growing popularity of Mostaccioli and Izanami, they raised $ 10,000 in donations.
Mercury was a huge fan of cats himself. British publication Express created a gallery of those he had in his lifetime, including Delilah, a tortoiseshell who was the singer’s favorite cat and stayed by his side when he was bedridden towards the end of his life.
“Freddie treated cats like his own children. He was constantly worried about them, and if any of them got hurt while Freddie was away, God help us,” said Jim Hutton, Mercury partner. , in a BBC2 documentary. [via Express].
“During the day the cats looked after the house and the grounds, and at night one of us would round them up and bring them inside.”
