LOS ANGELES – November 23, 2021 – SHOWTIME has announced that SUPER PUMPED: THE BATTLE FOR UBER, the first installment in a new anthology series, will premiere on Sunday, February 27 at 10 p.m. ET / PT. With Emmy winner (R) Joseph Gordon-Levitt (The Trial of the Chicago 7), Emmy winner Kyle Chandler (Bloodline, Friday Night Lights) and Oscar (R) and Emmy nominee Uma Thurman (Kill Bill, Pulp Fiction), the first season is based on Mike Isaac’s bestselling book, Super Pumped: The Battle for Uber. Brian Koppelman and David Levien (BILLIONS, Rounders) and Beth Schacter (Soundtrack) produce, write and are the showrunners of the series.

SUPER PUMP: BATTLE FOR UBER tells the story of one of Silicon Valley’s most successful and destructive unicorns, Uber. The season revolves around Travis Kalanick (Gordon-Levitt), the uncompromising CEO of Uber who was ultimately ousted in a coup, and his at times tumultuous relationship with his mentor Bill Gurley (Chandler), the brilliant capital. – an outspoken Texan risk that bets its solid reputation on Uber’s success – and then has to live with the consequences. Thurman plays Arianna Huffington, the savvy businesswoman and co-founder of The Huffington Post, who was a member of Uber’s board of directors. The SHOWTIME series will describe the roller coaster of the new transportation business, embodying the ups and downs of Silicon Valley. Even amid the sweeping upheavals generated within the tech capital of the world, Uber stands out as both a wonder and an uplifting narrative, featuring internal and external battles that have unforeseeable consequences. The series also stars Elisabeth Shue (Leaving Las Vegas), Kerry Bishé (Halt and Catch Fire, PENNY DREADFUL: CITY OF ANGELS), Jon Bass (Miracle Workers), Bridget Gao Hollitt (Home and Away) and Babak Tafti (Succession ).

SUPER PUMPED: THE BATTLE FOR UBER is the first installment in the SUPER PUMPED anthology series in which each season will explore a story that has profoundly shaken the business world and changed culture. In addition to Koppelman, Levien and Schacter, Paul Schiff, Stephen Schiff and Allyce Ozarski are also executive producers. Isaac co-executive produces the project. Allen Coulter (The Sopranos, RAY DONOVAN) directs and produces the first episode. The anthology series is produced by SHOWTIME and is part of Koppelman and Levien’s overall agreement with the network.
