Paramount + hosts award-winning MTV Docs in November
Two award-winning pieces from MTV Documentary Films hit Paramount + in November, followed closely by a handful of shorts. Ascension, which won the award for Best Feature Documentary 2021 at the Tribeca Film Festival, and Sabaya, winner of the 2021 award for Best Documentary Director of World Cinema at Sundance, are now live on the streaming service.
And on November 22, Paramount + will premiere Coded: JC Leyendecker’s Hidden Love, Lynching postcards: “Token of a great day, ” RIP T-shirts, Bree Way: Promise, Testimony, Remembrance, and the animated short The musician.

Ascension, one of the most acclaimed documentaries of 2021, is an exploration of the pursuit of wealth and the paradox of progress in modern China. He examines what the so-called “Chinese dream” looks like today. The documentary film was nominated for five Cinema Eye Awards, including Outstanding Achievement in Nonfiction Feature Filmmaking; a Gotham Award for best documentary; and six Critics Choice Documentary Awards, including Best Documentary, is also on the International Documentary Association’s shortlist for Best Documentary.
Sabaya, who won the Achievement Award at Sundance this year, travels to the Middle East’s most dangerous refugee camp, Al-Hol in Syria. With just a cell phone and a gun, Mahmud, Ziyad, and their group risk their lives trying to save Yazidi women and girls held by the Islamic State group as sabaya (sex slaves).
Paramount + is ViacomCBS’s streaming service that includes the full MTV family of channels, the Star Trek universe, and most of the Paramount library. It costs $ 5 per month for the “Essential” package, which includes advertising on on-demand content. For an additional $ 5, you can get rid of most of the ads and watch content in 4K resolution on supported devices. Paramount + also broadcasts regional NFL games, Champions League football, and other live sporting events.
