The 11th edition of the Nepal EU Film Festival kicks off in Kathmandu

KATHMANDU: The eleventh edition of the Nepal European Union Film Festival has kicked off in Kathmandu.
EU Ambassador to Nepal Nona Deprez opened the festival during a ceremony here on Friday evening.
At the event, she said that the festival has become a platform for cultural exchange between the EU and Nepal, and for understanding the EU.
“The festival will take place according to a hybrid working model. It can be viewed online and from the lobby of Film Development Board, Nepal. Nepalese actress and goodwill ambassador for the festival, Keki Adhikari expressed her hope that the festival would provide film artists with opportunities and skills to develop.
On this occasion, ‘Gods of Molenbeek’, a documentary directed by Reetta Huhtanen, was screened. The one-hour documentary tells the story of two little boys from different backgrounds, who go through political and religious conflicts in Brussels.
The fair will take place over four days starting on Saturday where 13 European films and three Nepalese films will be screened.
Similarly, the festival will also take place in Surkhet district from November 5 to 8. Its venue will be the Hall of Mid-West University. On this occasion, five European and three Nepalese films will be screened.
