The perversion of the English language

The tongue is a powerful vessel. It defines the way we think, speak, write and communicate. If you control the language, you control the masses.

No wonder leftist ideologues are working to hijack the English language.

As a writer, it has been deeply concerning to see how certain words and phrases have been changed to fit modern narratives and agendas in recent years. Take Covid as an example. We have seen definitions “evolve” to meet today’s needs when predictions by “experts” have failed to live up to historical standards. Instead of an apology, the words were changed.

Readers may recall “vaccine” and “herd immunity.”

The World Health Organization’s definition of “herd immunity” on June 9, 2020 has been:

Herd immunity is the indirect protection against an infectious disease that occurs when a population is immunized either by vaccination or by immunity developed by a previous infection. This means that even people who have not been infected, or in whom an infection has not triggered an immune response, are protected because people around them who are immune can act as buffers between them and a person. infected. The threshold for establishing herd immunity against COVID-19 is not yet known.

Five months later, the November 13, 2020the definition has been amended as follows:

Herd immunity, also known as “population immunity”, is a concept used for vaccination, in which a population can be protected against a certain virus if a vaccination threshold is reached. Herd immunity is achieved by protecting people from a virus, not exposing them to it.

Look at the difference?

The scientific concept of herd immunity has not changed. There was no “new science” or medical revelations to justify changing its definition.

What we had instead was a gap emerging between public expectations and raw Covid statistics. They even added quotation marks to lower the status of a hard scientific principle to a “concept”.

We come to the inescapable reality that the definition has been changed to protect governments around the world, their health ministers and medical bureaucrats.

The CDC also changed its definition of “vaccination” from “the act of introducing a vaccine into the body to produce immunity against a specific disease‘ at ‘action of introducing a vaccine into the body to protect against a specific disease.‘ They claims it was changed because the false impression was given that vaccines were 100% effective, whereas no vaccine is. Note that most childhood vaccines are over 96% effective, while flu shots are generally ineffective. The Covid did not alter this dynamic, was content to highlight an unknown fact.

If you do a “fact check” on this, you will hear the usual cry of “this is fake news!” but click on the detail and you will find that it is right, it “just lacks context”. The context in question is the poor performance of mRNA vaccines.

“The change also relates to new mRNA vaccine technology in light of the Covid pandemic,” says USA TODAY.

You might as well write, “They performed so poorly that we had to lower everyone’s expectations via language.”

Definitions surrounding Covid were not the only ones to be changed.

More recently, we’ve seen the definitions of “boy” and “girl” changed to reflect Woke’s teachings on gender fluidity.

(I want to note here that while editing this article, Microsoft Word’s Editor feature, which now has an “inclusivity section”, suggested that I change boy and girl to “children” because “a gender-neutral term here would be more inclusive”.)

Merriam-Webster has “updated” its definition of “daughter‘ at:

A person whose gender identity is female.

Then they “updated” the definition of “boy‘ at:

A child whose gender identity is male.

They also took the liberty of “updating” the words “female‘ and ‘Male‘ at:

Feminine: Having a gender identity opposite to that of the masculine.

Masculine: Having a gender identity opposite to that of women.

These definitions are vague when they should be distinct. They emphasize identification, not biology. If someone identifies as male or identifies as female, then they are now, by definition, male or female.

Diluting words with ambiguities makes it possible to confuse sex and gender. Children learning this revised language are misled into believing that reality is as malleable as language. It’s not hard to see why more and more people are homeschooling their children…

Merriam-Webster also changed the definition of “racism”, now defining it as follows:

The systemic oppression of one racial group for the social, economic and political benefit of another. Specifically: WHITE SUPREMACY

Sound familiar? It is because it is the doctrine of leftist ideologues. We often hear about how “systemic racism” is a problem in America from these individuals, whether they are in government, the media, or protesters in the streets during a riot demonstration. Black Lives Matter (ahem?). There’s a lot more of this kind of nonsense on the “racism” page on the Merriam-Webster website, which you can check out here.

America is now, determining whether a country is in recession, in recession. But the government does not want to admit that the country is in recession. The Biden administration knows it has done a terrible job of managing the economy, but rather than come out and say it, the administration has changed the definition of recession.

The White House has updated its website during the week to declare the following:

What is a recession? While some argue that two consecutive quarters of real GDP decline constitutes a recession, that is neither the official definition nor how economists assess the state of the business cycle. Instead, official determinations of recessions and economists’ assessment of economic activity are based on a holistic look at data – including labor market, consumer and business spending, industrial production and income. Based on this data, the drop in GDP in the first quarter of this year – even if followed by another drop in GDP in the second quarter – is unlikely to indicate a recession.

Biden economic adviser Brian Deese also said:

“Two negative quarters of GDP growth is not the technical definition of a recession.”

A quick Google search for the definition of ‘recession,’ which comes from the Oxford Dictionary, says the exact opposite:

A period of temporary economic decline during which commercial and industrial activity is reduced, usually identified by a decline in GDP in two successive quarters.

The media followed him. They told everyone that there were “recession fears”, not that the country was already in one. They rewrite reality as it presents itself, much like the Ministry of Truth presented in Orwell’s book. 1984.

Wikipedia quickly changed its definition of “recession” to favor the Biden administration before locking down the page so no one could restore it to what it really was. They followed this by updated page to include disclaimer at top stating that “some media outlets ran an outdated version of this article, claiming to be its current state”. We can’t have people who see the true definition of a recession if it makes government look bad, can we?

Why should we care about dictionaries and websites that change definitions of words? Why is it important?

Here’s why.

If they can change definitions, they can change our perception of reality. They can change the facts. And, ultimately, they can alter the truth.

It is clear that these definitions have been modified to adapt to political agendas. It’s about redefining reality. This is exactly what the Ministry of Truth has done in 1984. This fictitious regime altered the facts and changed what was real to suit the needs of the Party (the government). In fact, they often updated the dictionary, publishing new editions with acceptable definitions of words. The language used was NewSpeak, a language where the terms had been altered beyond recognition, away from what they actually meant.

It’s happening around us, and it’s just the beginning. They will search for more terms and change more definitions until no one remembers what the old and true meanings were. And if someone accuses them of changing these meanings, they will enlighten them, claiming that they never did.

Gaslighting is a common tactic. For an example, see Planned Parenthood. Prior to Wednesday, July 27, their website stated:

Treating an ectopic pregnancy is not the same as having an abortion. Abortion is a medical procedure that, when performed safely, terminates a pregnancy that is in your uterus. Ectopic pregnancies are dangerous outside your uterus (usually in the fallopian tubes) and are removed with a medicine called methotrexate or by laparoscopic surgery. The medical procedures for abortions are not the same as the medical procedures for an ectopic pregnancy.

They have since updated the website to remove this distinction. The result has been an increased sense of fear on the part of those who believe in the overthrow of Roe vs. Wade prevent them from legally terminating ectopic pregnancies. This is despite the fact that every state exempts ectopic pregnancies from their abortion laws.

If the manipulation of language for political purposes is not addressed, the situation will get worse. We have a consortium of people who seek the death of truth. Eventually, society will no longer be able to tell the truth of a government fiction.
